Burlington Man Sentenced on Federal Drug and Firearm Charges
DAVENPORT, IA - On November 16, 2012, David Lee Davis, Jr., age 26, of Burlington, Iowa, was sentenced to 262 months imprisonment, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose also ordered that Davis serve four years of supervised release following imprisonment and pay $200 towards the Crime Victim Fund. Davis previously had entered pleas of guilty to conspiring to distribute crack cocaine and possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Between March and June of 2011, the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force conducted a series of controlled buys of crack cocaine from Davis. On June 10, 2011, after obtaining a search warrant for Davis’s home, police seized over 100 grams of crack, 498 grams of marijuana, and a loaded .22 caliber semiautomatic pistol. Davis admitted that the cocaine and marijuana seized from his home were for redistribution to various customers in the Burlington, Iowa area. Also, Davis admitted that he possessed the .22 caliber semiautomatic pistol with the intent that it advance, assist or help him distribute drugs.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, the Burlington, Iowa, Police Department and the West Burlington, Iowa, Police Department. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
